A Holy Quran written with acrylic glass has been put on display at the Tehran International Quran Exhibition.

A large copy of the Holy Quran written in acrylic glass is among the items currently on show at the Tehran Int’l Quran Expo in the Iranian capital city.

The Quran’s 40 pages weighs over 1,400 kilograms and are made of 6 millimeter plywood on which verses have been written with acrylic glass.

Some 40 inmates from the Isfahan Central Prison created the massive project.

Various decorations using woodwork techniques such as marquetry, wood carving, wood inlay, etc, are among the embellishments of the Quran.

The artwork will be donated to the custodianship of Imam Reza’s (AS) holy shrine in Mashhad, northeast Iran.

The 25th Tehran International Quran Exhibition is being held at the Imam Khomeini Mosalla (prayer hall) and will run until June 16.

The expo has different sections, including Quranic activities, international, children and young adults, arts, government organizations, NGOs, and Hijab and Ifaf.

Many of the pavilions in the event showcase works from professional Iranian traditional and visual artists – with the works sharing a common theme: the Holy Quran.
